Meet a Microbiologist at Uppsala University

For International Microorganism Day, the Uppsala Antibiotic Center (UAC) is hosting Meet a Microbiologist. During the day, university students and school classes will come to the University to find out what it is like to be a microbiology researcher and what they are currently working on.

Researchers from the UAC and Uppsala University will come to explain the challenges society faces from antimicrobial resistance and how researchers are tackling the problem.

Antimicrobial resistance is at its core a microbiology problem but it’s not just for microbiologists to answer. It has huge impacts on society and society itself has an impact on the severity and spread of antimicrobial resistance. This is why solving the problem requires experts from many different research disciplines including the humanities. The research done at UAC spans across Medicine and Pharmacy, Science and Technology, and Humanities and Social Sciences, which allows it to attack the problem of antimicrobial resistance from all angles.

Anyone in the area is welcome to come by to meet a microbiologist and learn more about the fascinating world of antimicrobial resistance. For anyone who can’t attend but would like to learn more, the UAC has a podcast series detailing the work that is being pioneered in the field of antimicrobial resistance. https://www.uac.uu.se/the-amr-studio/
