Event Description:

International Microorganism Day (IMD) Indonesia 2025 is organized by the Microbiology Student Association “Archaea” of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). This event is a scientific exhibition and educational festival aimed at promoting the significance of microbiology in everyday life. With the theme “Into the Microverse: A Microbial Galaxy Awaits,” IMD 2025 invites high school students, university students, and the general public to explore the invisible world of microorganisms through immersive, interactive, and engaging experiences.

The main objectives of IMD Indonesia 2025 are to raise public awareness of microbiology’s relevance, expand scientific literacy among youth, and strengthen the visibility of the Microbiology Student Association “Archaea"

through collaboration with youth organizations and scientific communities.

The event begins with a series of pre-event programs, including an Infographic Competition on “The Role of Microbes in Supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, and a Petri Dish Art Workshop in collaboration with Lokus Foundation, combining science with artistic creativity.

The main event features three thematic zones:

1. The Origin Zone, which presents educational infographics, microbial-themed artworks, interactive games, and glow-in-the-dark murals introducing fundamental microbiology concepts.

2. The MicroLabs Zone, where visitors can engage in hands-on experiments such as microscopic observations, microbial isolation simulations, and take photos in a lab-themed booth.

3. The Deactivation Chamber, highlighting microbial-based innovations, fermented product showcases, community collaborations, and artwork from the Petri Dish Art Workshop. This zone also includes a Wall of Contribution filled with messages from alumni, partners, and visitors.

Additionally, IMD 2025 will feature an Apple Cider Workshop in collaboration with Rumah Fermentasi, offering a talk show and live demonstration on the microbial fermentation process. IMD Indonesia 2025 serves as a dynamic platform for science, creativity, and community engagement, inviting everyone to discover and celebrate the wonders of microbiology.
