IMD in Nigeria

We celebrated International Microorganism Day in Nigeria with an event on the 17th September 2022 at the University of Ibadan.

The event was attended by 25 participants, which included students and lecturers.

The event started with a welcome address by Dr. B. Nwadike and followed by lecture talks by Dr. A. O. Adewole (on sourdough bread), Dr. O. A. Odeniyi (microorganisms and biotechnology and the environment) and Olubode Olugbenga (how to write a grant proposal). After a short refreshment break participants were broken down in smaller groups and discussed how to translate Research in Nigeria to the Industry. The discussions in each groups were intense and engaging and ended with a representative speaker from each group giving reports on their discussions. We also had an industry talk by INQABA Biotech West Africa Ltd. After a late lunch, the event was wrapped up with a closing address and a prayer by Dr. O.O. Ajayi who gave a brief history of the event and encouraged the participants to plan to attend the event for the coming year.

This event was sponsored by INQABA Biotech West Africa Ltd. and FANMILK PLC. Nigeria
