We are happy to inform you all that University and Madras and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is jointly organizing 4th International Conference on Bacteriophage Research and Antimicrobial Resistance during 28 – 30 September, 2023. Researchers from all over the world can participate offline to learn the trending research on bacteriophages from renowned bacteriophage researchers followed by poster presentations and lot of networking.

International Microorganism DAy 2023

Our IMD event at the Department of Food Science & Nutrition, The American College, Madurai was held on 15, 16, and 17 September 2023.

On the first day, we unveiled the “Bread Labor Statue” made by our students highlighting the role of microbes in food production. The statue will remain displayed at our school. We also organized a webinar titled “Beneficial microbes of humans”. On the second day, we held an online student competition on Sci-art/comic strip preparation under the theme “Discoveries in Food Microbiology”.

This event was a significant milestone for our department, and it would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. From the planning and organization to the execution of the various activities, it was a true team effort!


International Microorganism Day 2023

On 11 and 13 September 2023, we celebrated IMD at the Department of Microbiology, The American College, Madurai.

There, Assistant Professor Dr. J. Rajendran delivered a lecture and students took part in several exciting activities - essay writing, pencil sketching, quizzes, agar art, rangoli, and poster presentations.

Exploration of Microbial World: Celebration of International Microorganism Day

In our workshop, we have three speakers who will deliver talks on Microbiome, Virology, and Antimicrobial Resistance. There will also be a hands-on component where we will demonstrate the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts.

Microbes through Foldscope for beginners 

When? 19 September 2023, all day

Where? University of Kashmir, Srinagar, J&K-India

Our event will show students how to assemble and use the Foldscope and explore the microbial forms present in our environment and their close association with our day-to-day lives.


Microalgae to control air pollution

When? 17 September 2023

Where? Golden Jubilee Hanger, NWTC, Bangalore 

Our event will consist of a demonstration of a prototype Photo biobattery and aim to create awareness among the students of the use of microalgae to control air pollution.


International Microorganism Day

When? 19 September 2023

Where? Seminar Hall, St. Joseph University, Nagaland

Our event will focus on several different fields of microbiology, from food to medical and environmental. We will have lectures, workshops, painting competitions, and quizzes, so join us to celebrate IMD together!


IMD2023 at excel college for commerce and science

On 19 September 2023, we celebrated IMD at the Excel College for Commerce and Science. We had two components, an online quiz which was taken by more than 700 individuals, and an in-person presentation, model making, and art competition with 250 attendees.
