The Microbial World: discoveries and dialogues inside and outside the UFLA

Event Description: In celebration of the International Microorganism Day, the MICOALIS Extension Group will promote three days of scientific and educational activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of microorganisms in society.

The program will include extension activities, interactive exhibitions, and a series of lectures with invited experts. The event is intended for students, teachers, researchers, and the general public interested in microbiology.

Schedule activities:

  • Visit to a public high school
    An educational activity featuring hands-on demonstrations, including microorganism observation under the microscope, viewing of slides and culture plates, and an exhibit on fermented foods and their microbial connection. The goal is to bring microbiology closer to students’ everyday lives.

  • Exhibition on the UFLA campus
    A public event showcasing similar activities to those held at the school, highlighting the diversity, applications, and significance of microorganisms.

  • Lecture series
    Sessions with experts from academia and the private sector, addressing current topics in microbiology related to health, the environment, and food.
    Registered participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
